My Vintage Paris Love

My Vintage Paris Love

I have always been inspired by images of Vintage Paris, be it Jewelry or Scrap-booking or Decor…..it always gave me a sense of romance and all things feminine….
Purple Paris Danglers

When I stumbled upon these little findings it was no surprise that I create some Vintage Feminine pieces out of these……Featuring the Eiffel Tower, Fleur-de-lis, and Mary Antoinette style Vintage crown.

In both the danglers along with the charms, I used Lilac Beads topped of with little bead caps which resemble a French Artist’s BĂ©ret :)

The Fleur-de-lis Pendant & Stud are inspired by the European Rosary Chain, I incorporated the Creamy Pearls & Turquoise Beads to give it a more feminine feel.

And finally my favorite…..the Bronze Crown Key with some Vintage Bronze chain and the Tassel earrings do give it the boho feel !

A Special Feeling............

Its always great to create jewelry for PisceanCreations, but its a special feeling when I make jewelry for my family and friends........
When you know their specific tastes, likes and dislikes, it makes the whole process more satisfying.....knowing that they are going to love it 100 percent :)

I made these two sets for my sisters, who wanted something in hot pink......
I put a lot of time into these knowing that she could reject them if it was off by even the smallest cm or a bead more or a bead less....redoing multiple designs, getting final approval from her.....
And the final pieces turned out to be very pretty.....

And a simple necklace in sandstone for my dear mom.......She had saved these oddly shaped sandstone beads for sometime....hope I did justice to them......

And a colorful necklace & earrings made of beaded kashmiri beads for my husband's 9 year old niece........

Some more colorful candy & stars to gift the little ones.....lots of colors here......hope they don't fight over who gets which color........

My love story.....

So here I am starting to record something I have been doing since childhood...making jewelry....

Being a creative child I would always be "making something " as I used to call it. Be it pencil sketches, paper crafts, glass painting or handmade jewelry. I loved spending time in my room "making stuff". My room was always full of "stuff" I made, sketches and paintings on the walls, paper flowers and stickers on the door, handmade chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, and even patterns I had painstakingly painted on my ceiling!

Both my parents were creative people and always encouraged me to do what I wanted, they never ever said a word even when I painted directly on the walls :) . Don’t misunderstand, this was not as a toddler, but when I was a teenager, and I must say my paintings on the wall were quite good :) .
My father was a wonderful artist, he would make the most amazing pencil sketches. And not unlike me he had a variety of hobbies from sketching to painting to calligraphy to origami and even stitching... So I never had to  buy my tools :)....I inherited the tools from him. The tools he had in his drawer  found a new place in my room.... from paint brushes to pliers to cutters and wires.

And my mother was quite the fashion designer, she would design and tailor the most amazing outfits for me and my sister when we were kids...
The point being, there was never a shortage of any sort of art or craft supplies at our home when I was growing up.
My parents encouraged me never to buy anything I could make on my own, to this day my friends and family get only handmade cards and handmade gifts for any occasion :)

But first let me tell you the how my love story with jewelry began..... Around the time when I was 11 or 12,  my mother (who was quite the fashion queen back in her college days) handed over a small round tin box of her artificial earrings to me and my sister. To this day I can remember the beautiful treasures inside the box, so colourful, so pretty, all antique and romantic looking..... I knew I was in love.....and there began my love story (people who know me call it a fetish) with earrings.....
Growing up I remember dismantling any artificial jewelry I bought and making something cool out of it. I started making earrings out of anything I found pretty.

This went on for years, I would wear earrings I made to school and college, my cousins and close friends would appreciate them, but it was not a big deal, it was taken for granted that I was an artist so of course I made them.

Then Job happened and Marriage happened, it was when I moved to a new city, and my colleagues started paying me compliments for  the jewelry I made...they were amazed that I made them at home with my hands...
And now after more than 7 years of job and marriage, I had enough resources at my disposal to spend on making jewelry. I had all the time and money to pursue it further. I started spending entire weekends making jewelry....earrings, necklaces, brackets et al,  and started storing them away in little boxes. It was when my friends started asking me, what am I going to do with all of them? I can't just keep filling up my shelf with handmade jewelry, and not like I was going to wear all of them (see I already had a humongous personal collection of jewelry, it’s a story I will get to another time).

It was one of those Saturday mid mornings when I was switching between Pinterest and looking for beads online, that I realized why not put up some of my items on eBay. So I did!
It was such a rush finally putting up my creations on eBay :), I sent the link to my sister and my friends, and they were all soooo happy that I finally did it after all these years. My sister was ecstatic as she is the one who firmly believed that I belong in the creative field and not doing a job in IT. The response I got from eBay motivated me further and here I am writing a blog about my Handmade Jewelry Collection....Piscean Creations.........
